There was mixture of various cultures in Belgaum city that was a border area. An educational Institute appeared with vigor life force. Its name was Karnataka Lingayat Education Society. Seven great persons sacrificed for the institute and established it in 1916 AD which has now spread throughout the world like a big Bunyan tree

It is now nearing the centenary function. As a tiny institute it was started it has got now 211 branches and has become well known in the continent of Asia. It includes all types of educational branches right from Pre-primary schools up to P.G. centers with medical engineering dental etc fields. Now it has become an independent University. Its credit goes to Dr. Prabhakar Kore the Chairman of K.L.E. Society the Directors, and the whole staff. The Teachers Training Institutes the part of the society are working in a very good way. One of them is S.S. Basavanal Teachers Training Institute.
